Vault Cards are returning in Borderlands 4 as inclusions in the Bounty Packs! We'll share more specifics on their functionality at a later date, but you can expect they'll work similarly to how they functioned in Borderlands 3: playing the game with a Vault Card active gives you more loot and XP via recurring challenges, which can unlock additional rewards.

Each Vault Card is part of an individual Bounty Pack. Four Vault Cards total are included with the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions of Borderlands 4 as part of the Bounty Pack Bundle.

We currently plan to offer the DLC included in the Bounty Pack Bundle and Vault Hunter Pack for individual purchase (base game required) when they launch. This would include all four Bounty Packs and both Story Packs.

At the heart of Borderlands 4's action are the Vault Hunters: badass heroic archetypes with powerful abilities. Vault Hunters are treasure-hunting badasses, running headfirst into danger in hopes of wealth, power, glory, and the best loot in the galaxy. Each Vault Hunter represents a unique class choice that will help determine your playstyle, though you have a lot of freedom to build them how you like. In Borderlands 4, every Vault Hunter has three powerful Action Skills to choose from: distinct, devastating abilities that you can use on a cooldown. Borderlands 4 also delivers the series' most advanced skill tree system yet, replete with branching paths to enable even more incredibly unique builds. Borderlands 4 stars four all-new Vault Hunters at launch with unique classes: Rafa the Exo-Soldier, Vex the Siren, Amon the Forgeknight, and Harlowe the Gravitar. Two new Vault Hunters will also be available in the post-launch content of two Story Packs, which are bundled into the Vault Hunter Pack included in Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition. Nope! Borderlands 4 takes place on the all-new planet Kairos where you'll encounter new heroes and villains, making it the perfect entry point for new players too. Longtime Borderlands fans will enjoy seeing some familiar faces, but you can absolutely enjoy Borderlands 4 without any prior knowledge of the previous Borderlands games.

SHiFT and SHiFT Accounts are a free service integrated into Borderlands 4 and other Borderlands titles that enables players to participate in cross-platform multiplayer, as well as redeem in-game rewards by entering limited-time SHiFT codes. SHiFT Codes are used to redeem in-game rewards such as Golden Keys, which can then be used to obtain rare loot!

SHiFT codes can be redeemed for your SHiFT Account on the Gearbox SHiFT site, or via the in-game Social menu within Borderlands 4 at launch. If you don't have a SHiFT account, you can create one on the Gearbox SHiFT site! SHiFT accounts are free. Each code may be redeemed once (1) per SHiFT account.

Yes, Borderlands 4 features offline play for all single-player activities. Some features such as online multiplayer will not be available when playing offline.

Yes! Cosmetic customizations include Vault Hunter Skins that apply a new texture or design to your outfit, while Vault Hunter Heads and Vault Hunter Bodies let you equip altered character models. You can also collect Weapon Skins that apply a texture to any gun in your collection, and ECHO skins that change the look of your loyal ECHO-4 companion bot! You can also collect new Vehicle cosmetics to customize the look of your personalized vehicle. All these cosmetics have no effect on gameplay beyond making you feel that much cooler.

While Borderlands 4 does include ways to customize the look of your weapons with Weapon Skins, gun behaviors and their functional components in the new Licensed Parts system will not be customizable. Borderlands is all about the loot chase, so we're keeping to our RNG roots to ensure that there's always a thrilling gun just waiting to be discovered!
