Feast your eyes on new Borderlands 4 footage of Kairos' distinct regions, each reigned over by a fearsome Commander.

The Timekeeper has maintained total oppression over the people of Kairos—but you're about to break free from his control.

In the Borderlands 4 Story Trailer above, you can get a glimpse of the Timekeeper's cruel reign, including the disturbing process of being implanted with a Bolt—a spine-grafted cybernetic device used to dominate the populace.

Timekeeper

Soon after crash-landing, the Vault Hunters are arrested and forcibly affixed with the device, trapping them on Kairos.

The Timekeeper and his Order are the ultimate superpower on Kairos, ruling from the impenetrable fortress city known as Dominion City. When Elpis arrived in Kairos' orbit and unleashed cataclysmic destruction, the Timekeeper locked down the city and sent his Commanders to deal with the fallout firsthand. Now, the Timekeeper watches over Kairos from the safety of his tower while his Commanders maintain his Order.

Vault Boss

Callis, the Ripper Queen, rules over the shattered lands of Carcadia Burn and denounces the Timekeeper's mind-controlling methods, while the hulking Idolator Sol terrorizes the rolling hills of the Fadefields and remains loyal and subservient to the Timekeeper. Lastly there's Vile Lictor, overseer of the Terminus Range's frigid peaks; he doesn't appear in this Story Trailer, but you can see his fearsome final form in our Official Gameplay Deep Dive video.

Rippers

If you want any hope of crossing the war-torn regions of Kairos to get to the Timekeeper in his city stronghold, you'll need more than a few allies by your side. Until now, the Timekeeper has ruthlessly crushed any and all opposition, but the catastrophic arrival of Elpis has disrupted his perfect Order.

Claptrap

From humble beginnings, you'll need to travel across Kairos and ignite the revolution against the Timekeeper. People all across Kairos have begun to rise up, and this powderkeg is set to explode. Enter Claptrap, self-proclaimed mastermind behind the Crimson Resistance, who's set on making the Vault Hunters his newest recruits.

Moxxi

In our story trailer, you'll see some returning fan-favorite characters like Amara, Moxxi, and Zane, along with new faces like the leaders of three resistance factions on Kairos:

  • The Outbounders, led by Rush, who all crash-landed onto Kairos much like the Vault Hunters. This resourceful group longs to leave this prison planet, and they've been a persistent thorn in Idolator's Sol side.
  • The Augers, led by Defiant Calder. These mountainous miners have been on Kairos for centuries. For the Augers, Kairos is home—one worth fighting the Timekeeper to keep.
  • And finally the Electi, once favored citizens of Dominion City who were locked out when Elpis arrived, are led by Levaine. Life in the Timekeeper's shadow is hard enough, but life in the eyeline of the Ripper Queen has given the Electi the ultimate survival challenge.

Borderlands 4 is now available for pre-order on PlayStation®5, and Xbox Series X|S and pre-purchase on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store! More info on Switch 2 pre-orders will be available in the future.
