Bounty Pack 1, first Seasonal Mini-Event, Invincible Boss, and more reveals!

During our panel at PAX Australia, we shared new details about upcoming content from Borderlands 4's Post-Launch Roadmap! We've put together this overview of what to expect from all this incoming paid and free content:

  • Paid DLC of Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day* (Nov 20)
  • Free limited-time Seasonal Mini-Event: Horrors of Kairos (Oct 23 - Nov 6)
  • Free Invincible Boss and additional Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode level (December)

Before we get into the nitty-gritty details, we want to say another heartfelt 'thank you' to the millions of players who have been enjoying Borderlands 4 thus far. Our journey alongside all you badass Vault Hunters is just getting started, and we've got tons of awesome paid and free content coming your way, along with more performance improvements on all platforms. With that, let's take a look at what's on the horizon for the denizens of Kairos!

Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day*

On November 20, 2025, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day will get you into the holiday spirit as Borderlands 4's first Bounty Pack! As a quick refresher, Bounty Packs are paid DLC that bring new bite-sized-yet-flavorful narrative content to Kairos, along with new gear to earn and cosmetics to collect—plus a Vault Card that lets you unlock additional loot through gameplay. How Rush Saved Mercenary Day is the first of four Bounty Packs included in the Bounty Pack Bundle. The Bounty Pack Bundle comes with the Deluxe Edition and Super Deluxe Edition of Borderlands 4 and is available for separate purchase.

Rush, the affable leader of the Outbounders, is feeling homesick and nostalgic for the holidays he's cherished in years past. By his calculations, it's about to be Mercenary Day, a jolly time for gift-giving and gunslinging with friends and family, and he'd like to bring that same festive cheer to the people of Kairos. But his hopes for holiday merriment stand in direct opposition to Screw, the Timekeeper's Minister of Culture who's charged with keeping celebrations as bland and homogenous as possible. Across a series of all-new Main Missions, you'll show Screw the true meaning of Mercenary Day by any means necessary, and maybe score some new Legendary loot in the process.

Bounty Pack 1 also includes a Vault Card with new rewards that you'll earn through gameplay, with 24 cosmetic items to unlock and 4 pieces of rerollable gear on offer. The rerollable gear can be earned as many times as you like, so you can snag a roll with stats that perfectly suit your build! Here's the full breakdown of the Bounty Pack 1 Vault Card loot:

  • 4 rerollable weapons
  • 4 Vault Hunter Heads usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe
  • 4 Vault Hunter Skins usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe
  • 5 Weapon Skins
  • 5 Vehicle Skins
  • 4 ECHO-4 Drone Skins
  • 2 ECHO-4 Attachments

Playing Borderlands 4 with a Vault Card active gives you more loot and XP via Daily and Weekly challenges, and can be leveled up at your own pace (no time limits or expiring rewards here). Once you own a Bounty Pack and its respective Vault Card, you can activate that Vault Card via the Vault Card screen in your ECHO menu. Vault Card progression works just like leveling up: it's all driven by how much XP you're gaining. By exploring Kairos, killing enemies, and completing quests, you'll fill up your Vault Card progression in addition to your regular XP!

In addition, Bounty Pack 1 features a few extra goodies to find:

  • 1 New Digirunner Vehicle (available shortly after starting the first Main Mission)
  • 1 Vault Hunter Skin usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe (available after beating the boss and completing the Bounty Pack's final Main Mission)
  • 1 ECHO-4 Drone Skin (available after beating the boss and completing the Bounty Pack's final Main Mission)

To ensure that you jump into Bounty Pack 1 right when it launches on November 20, here's a breakdown of the different ways to acquire this paid DLC:

  • If you don't own Borderlands 4: Purchase Borderlands 4 Deluxe or Super Deluxe Edition (both include the Bounty Pack Bundle)
  • If you already own Borderlands 4:
    • Option 1: Purchase the Bounty Pack Bundle that includes Bounty Pack 1
    • Option 2: Purchase Bounty Pack 1 individually

Free Seasonal Mini-Event: Horrors of Kairos

Just in time for spooky season, Borderlands 4's first free, limited-time Seasonal Mini-Event, Horrors of Kairos, will scare all players senseless from October 23 to November 6. During the event, world boss encounters change the weather to a terror-inducing blood rain, with new Legendary loot you have a chance to get from world boss kill rewards:

  • "Murmur" Legendary Tediore Assault Rifle: Executes weakened enemies with guaranteed crits on targets under 35% health
  • "Skully" Legendary Order Grenade: This death-dealing grenade fires out projectiles as it seeks out the nearest target

In addition, we'll be serving up some SHiFT code treats during the event: a "Gourd Your Loins" Vault Hunter (pumpkin) Head usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe, and a "Hex Appeal" Weapon Skin that can be equipped to any weapon. Keep an eye on the Borderlands social channels to ensure you don't miss these SHiFT codes before they're gone!

Free Endgame Updates: Bloomreaper the Invincible and a new UVHM level

If you think your Vault Hunter's build and loadout is strong enough to take down any opponent, you'll soon have a deadly new challenge to conquer: Bloomreaper the Invincible, the first of the endgame Invincible Bosses coming to Borderlands 4 as free updates for all players. The "Invincible" moniker is a throwback to the raid bosses of previous Borderlands games, so these aren't literally unkillable enemies—but you'll have to contend with their massive health pools, extremely lethal attack damage, and new modifiers that can seriously shorten your life expectancy.

Making it to the new arena that this raid boss calls home is one thing; taking Bloomreaper down is another matter entirely. Should you somehow manage to prevail, you'll have the chance at all-new Legendary loot as proof of your hard-fought victory. Bloomreaper the Invincible is coming to Borderlands 4 as part of a free update in December 2025, which will also add a new Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode level for an added layer of difficulty. You can learn more about Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode in our Borderlands 4 endgame overview.

Still much more to come
